Golden Oldies Movie Night
Our main feature will be Billy the Kid in Texas starring
Bob Steele. Thirty minutes prior to the movie we will
show an episode from Cisco Kid. Admission to the movie is
free and popcorn and soft drinks will be served.

Featuring all new nightwear from the 1940s-1980s from the
Henson-Kickernick collection!

Byron Chitwood will be speaking on the trip he took to Norway.
Admission to program is free for museum members;
otherwise there is a general admission charge of $6 adults,
$4 seniors/veterans/college students and $2 6-18 yr. olds.

Easter After Dark
Our annual adults only easter egg hunt is right around the corner!
700 eggs will be hidden on the museum grounds to find. Prizes
will range from candy, automotive supplies, restaurant gift cards,
tickets to the Nascar race in November and small and large
cash prizes, including one egg with $75!
Tickets are now on sale.
Limited number of tickets available!

21st Annual Cotton & Rural History Conference
This year's keynote speaker will be Andrew Torget. He is an
historian and professor at the University of North Texas and will be
talking about his book; Seeds of Empire: Cotton, Slavery and the
Transformation of the Texas Borderlands, 1800-1850
.
His book has
won numerous awards and critics have praised the book, saying
it signals the arrival of an important new book on Texas and
Southwestern History. In addition to our keynote speaker, there will
also be an eyewitness oral history panel and a professional
historians panel.
Tickets cost $12 per person and includes a BBQ lunch
from Ernie's BBQ. Advance registration is required.

Audie Murphy Day
Some of our noted speakers will include actor Brett Halsey. He starred
with Audie in the film To Hell & Back. Brett began acting at a young age
and continues to act today. Just a few of the many films he was in
include Ma & Pa Kettle at Home, Hot Rod Rumble, Return of the Fly and
Godfather: Part III. He also earned golden globes for his performance
in Desire in the Dust and the episode "New Star of the Year" in the tv show
Follow the Sun. In addition to acting, Brett is also a writer. His
bestselling book The Magnificent Strangers won a Porgie Award in 1979
and his most recent book is a thriller titled A Grave Misunderstanding.


Col. Richard Kaniss is a Retired Transportation Colonel. He
served in the Army for more than thirty years. His last deployment was
a two year tour overseas in support of Operation Enduring Freedom -
Philippines from 2001 - 2003. Col. Kaniss is currently the chapter
President for the Association of United States Army - North Texas -
Audie Murphy Chapter. In 2015 the AUSA chapter was named the
"Best" chapter by AUSA National for its worldwide support of
Wounded Warriors, their Leadership Program and their Veterans Job initiates.

 

May 12-13, 2017
WWII Living History Days
A new addition to Audie Murphy Day this year!
Find out what living conditions were like for soldiers during WWII
as Able Company, 1st Battalion, 502nd parachute Infantry Regiment,
101st Airborne Division sets up an encampment on the museum
grounds. Some of the displays will consist of uniforms,
parachute equipment, medical supplies and tents, including a fully
functional field kitchen.
It will be FREE to see all of the displays on the museum grounds.
Friday: 10am - 5pm
This will be a great opportunity for teachers to arrange a field
trip on this day by calling the Museum at (903) 450-4502.
Saturday: 9am - 5pm


June 3-4, 2017
Cotton Boll ArtFest
This juried arts and crafts festival will feature hand-made items like
pottery, jewelry, wood-working, paintings, fused glass, soaps
and much more! For all you kids and families out there we will
also have a Kids Korner where you can make your own craft
to take home.

Admission: $4 for adults, 12 and under free
Admission includes entrance to both the festival and the museum.
Proceeds benefit the Museum's exhibits and educational activities.
